Easy A Is Getting A Spin-Off So Someone Call Emma Stone
It’s almost a decade since the first film.
Movies are a wonderful thing.
They’re the perfect form of entertainment: they require you to sit and not move for hours while staring at one thing.
They’re funny, scary, sad, full of drama.
Sometimes they spur your sexual awakening. And sometimes they’ll empower you more than you realise.
Easy A ticks all of these boxes. The 2010 film is the first time we fell in love with Emma Stone and is the first time we realised we don’t have to live according to other people’s expectations.
It was empowering and hilarious and, almost a decade on, still relevant as hell.
Basically, Easy A is a damn good film.
But because Hollywood is known for ruining a good thing, said damn good film is getting what will (probably) be a questionably good spin-off.
According to Variety, the film’s original screenwriter, Bert Royal, will be pennig the sequel and also making his directorial debut.
The spin-off will also reportedly take place at the same high school with the students tackling some of the same issues.
Points for originality?
While we admit we’re a little sceptical about an Easy A spin-off we do have a little faith.
With the original writer on board, the movie will at least be as funny as the OG. And if Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes and Penn Badgley are all in it, then it’s definitely going to be a good time.
But let’s be real, the sequel is never as good as the original.
