"This is not good, not okay, please stop."

It's summertime in the US and Zac Efron seems to be living his best life "off the grid". He's been surfing, hanging out with adorable baby goats and setting off fireworks for the fourth of July.

But fans were seriously shocked on Friday when Zac shared a photo of himself with dreadlocks. Seriously. It's a sight we never thought we'd see and yet, it's totally real.

He captioned the snap, "Just for fun," but fans are not impressed with the new 'do.

Some of the comments included:

"I just reported this photo."

"This is not good, not okay, please stop."

"I just cried a little on the inside."

"K. Fun time over. Take em out."

Some even said that it was cultural appropriation, while many others defended the actor's new look:

“Dreadlocks have been used by countless ethnic groups in every part of the world for thousands of years – no one group deserves to claim them.”

Someone else added:

“There are people dying in the world and people are worried about hair?”

Some fans actually liked the look with one joking:

"I'm literally pregnant after looking at this."

It's not the first time Zac has rocked a questionable look, this is what he looked like while shooting the film Beach Bum:

Let's just hope he's done with the hair experimentation for a while after this!
