A ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot is officially in talks and YES PLEASE!
You know you love me xoxo
Spotted: CW president Mark Pedowitz confirming a Gossip Girl remake is a possibility.
While at the TV Critics' Association press tour on Thursday January 31, Mark told reporters that there’s a “discussion happening” about a Gossip Girl reboot.
That’s right fellow Upper East Siders, we could be getting more sassy designer back-stabbing gossipy goodness to our small screens.
But don’t get too excited, because this one might be more not than hot.
“I don’t know if we’re there yet, “ Mark said, adding “I don't know what it would be.”
While he’s open to the idea (and we’re DEFINITELY down for it), Mark also said it would ultimately be up to the involvement of original Executive Producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.
"Cause you don't want to do anything without them."
And if past talks between Josh and Steph are anything to go by, they're not too keen on the idea.
At the 2016's ATX TV Festival the pair admitted they hadn’t thought about rebooting the show at all.
"We haven't really explored some of those conversations," Josh told E! News at the time. "Maybe, I don't know. We haven't really thought about it.”
It’s been three more years and we're hoping that’s enough time to change that “maybe” into a “definitely”.
If we miss all the crazy love triangles and New York antics, surely they do too?
Josh acknowledged "the Internet has changed,” since the series ended and that a Gossip Girl made up of Instagram influencers would make a lot of sense.
(It definitely makes more bloody sense than Dan being Gossip Girl, JUST SAYIN’).
"The world has become Gossip Girl now. ... Now literally everyone is Gossip Girl,” he told E! News.
We’re waiting CW. Catchya on the Met steps.
