And we can see why!

Kat Von D is getting slammed by former fans after she announced she will not vaccinate her baby.

Von D took to Instagram last week to reveal her plans, she wrote:

“I knew the minute we announced our pregnancy that we would be bombarded with unsolicited advice. Some good and some questionable - unsolicited none the less.”

“If you don’t know what it’s like to have the entire world openly criticize, judge, throw uninformed opinions, and curse you - try being an openly pregnant vegan on Instagram, having a natural, drug-free home birth in water with a midwife and doula, who has the intention of raising a vegan child, without vaccinations.”

Sensing the backlash that was going to come her way she added:

“I already know what it’s like to make life choices that are not the same as the majority. So your negative comments are not going influence my choices - actual research and educating myself will - which i am diligently doing. This is my body. This is our child. And this is our pregnancy journey.”

The comment section blew up with fans debating about the effectiveness of vaccines – they are very much safe, effective and can save millions of lives.

Some of the comments included:

“Yeah but when your child is carrying diseases we almost eradicated until a bunch of ninnies decided they know better than modern medicine and science, it can spread to everyone else’s damn kids so no it’s not just your decision you’re forcing everyone else to come in contact with your unvaccinated child who’s a vector of disease.”

“Not getting vaccines can literally kill people so it’s very selfish and I’m surprised the government hasn’t made it illegal to not get vaccinated.”

“On behalf of sane vegans everywhere, I apologize for this stupidity that in no way represents the majority of us. Babies can’t be vegan. Babies need to be vaccinated. You act as if you can be “openly vegan”. Wtf. Being vegan is a choice that you made. Being gay is not. So please, get over it. Vaccines won’t make your kid autistic, and even if they did, is being autistic really worse than dying of a completely preventable decease?”

“You’ve lost yet another supporter. If your choices are so personal to you, keep them that way. But if you make them public you’re asking for judgement; esp. when you are speaking on subjects that show your ignorance. Last time I checked, you aren’t a doctor. You’re a high school dropout. You’ve never seen a child die of a completely preventable disease. You’re a tattoo artist, a celebrity. If you don’t want to be judged by your ignorance in other subjects that actually affect people’s lives - yes, this is a life or death issue for many - then keep your choices (and your unvaccinated child) to yourself.”

Back in 1998, a fraudulent research paper was published that linked vaccines to autism, the paper was then withdrawn and the author was struck off the UK Medical Register. There is no reason to believe there is a link between autism and vaccines and those of us who are vaccinated are protected against many dangerous and infectious diseases.

Since Kat made the announcement, people have decided to boycott her makeup line.
