In breaking news, The Australian is reporting Chris Dawson, the centre of the publications' Teacher's Pet podcast investigation, has been arrested and is expected to be charged with the murder of his wife, Lyn.

“A 70-year-old man has been arrested this morning shortly before 8 o’clock in relation to the murder of Lyn Dawson,” Detective Chief Inspector Chris Olen confirmed with the publication.

“He’s been taken to Southport where he will be charged. NSW police will seek an extradition.”

The publication reports that Chris Dawson was arrested at the Gold Coast’s Biggera Waters following investigation of new evidence by the NSW DPP.

Chris' former wife Lyn disappeared from Sydney's Northern Beaches in early January 1982, when she was 33 years old.

The Australian also report that Lyn’s brother Gregg Simms has released a statement after learning of the arrest.

“We’ve had a cry, we’ve cuddled, we’re just completely over the moon that something has finally happened," he said.
