When $100,000 mysterious arrived in Wendy Janine Baulch’s bank account, instead of questioning it she (nearly) spent it all

A self-proclaimed devoutly religious woman from the Gold Coast, took an expensive month-long cruise after $100,000 was wrongly-deposited into her account.

Fifty-four year-old Wendy Janine Baulch, who describes herself as “devoutly religious”, chewed through $93,458 on an expensive shopping spree including a lavish, month-long cruise to Asia.

The mother of four was arrested as she stepped off the cruise ship in February 2015, and pleaded guilty yesterday to one count of fraud.

The court was told that Baulch had $5,000 in her account when retailer Pharmacy4Less mistakenly deposited the cash back in December 2014, with the judge concluding that it would have been, “obvious that this transfer was by mistake.”

She was sentenced to 18 months in jail, to be suspended after three months and plans to join the Salvation Army to work with the underprivileged after her release.
