Madonna’s trainwreck Aretha Franklin tribute is getting slammed on social media

1 min read

It was pretty bad...

The VMA's literally just happened and Madonna (who recently celebrated her 60th b-day) was in charge of The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin's tribute.

Unfortunately... Madonna was in charge of Aretha Franklin's tribute.

It wasn't all bad, Madonna reminisced at least 10 per cent on Aretha herself, and maybe 40 per cent on how much Aretha had influenced her own career and even praised her tremendous amount of talent: Which, if you're counting along at home, leaves a decent chunk of time dedicated to Madonna and Madonna alone.

"And I want to thank you, Aretha, for empowering all of us. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Long live the queen.”

It all got a lil messy when she continued to talk - and talk, and talk - a little too much about herself and not enough about Aretha - leaving fans as you guessed it, outraged:

We mean... at least she was coming from a good place?
