Vehicle Theft Ends With Two Dead In Brisbane Crash

The incident happened in Brisbane's north.

A horrific crash at Bald Hills in Brisbane’s North has claimed two lives.

Police have released a statement claiming a stolen car was heading North in the Southbound lanes of Gympie Arterial Road when it collided head on with another vehicle around midnight, killing a person in each car.  It’s believed the driver was travelling at speed when the impact happened.

Pictures from the scene show the cars crumpled and barely recognisable. It was the driver of the other vehicle who died instantly along with the passenger of the stolen vehicle.

The passenger of the car hit was rush to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with critical injuries. The driver who is believed to be to blame for the tragedy, is recovering in the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Detectives will speak with them soon.

The highway has since reopened after being closed for more than 8 hours.
